61 year old 'critical' after incident in Douglas

A 61 year old man is in a critical condition in hospital after an incident in Douglas this morning.

 

He was found at the corner of Athol Street and Church Street by a member of the public at around 7.15.

 

Police haven't said how the man came by his injuries.

 

A 22 year old Douglas man remains in police custody on suspicion of attempted murder.

 

Police say they owe a huge debt of gratitude to he public who have had their day disrupted by the road closures that were in place whilst the incident was investigated.

 

Athol Street has reopened to the public, but Upper Church is still closed between Athol Street and Hill Street.
