Athol Street closure update

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

It follows an incident on Athol Street this morning.

Police were called out at 7.15 after reports of an injured man.

A 22 year old Douglas man was arrested just over half an hour later.

Inspector Phil Shimmin told Granada reports the victim is seriously hurt but he won't give details on his injuries.[Play audio file below]

Police had several roads in the area sealed off this morning.

The Barrack Street junction with Lord Street and Shaw's Brow car park have now reopened.

There is also access to the rear of most of the buildings on Athol Street, but not via Upper Church Street.
