The Island’s record breaking Viking longboat rowing team will be back out on the waves this weekend.
The ‘Row the Rock’ crew rowed their way into the record books last year when they circumnavigated the Island in 25 hours and 29 minutes.
They’ve now been challenged to a longboat race by a group of visiting oil workers from Wales.
The two boats will leave Peel at 8am on Saturday and the crews will head south in a four hour, head-to-head battle of strength and stamina.
The visiting crew are employees of an oil refinery in Milford Haven in south west Wales and are on the Isle of Man this weekend to compete in a charity “Viking Challenge.”
After the row, the 15 visitors will cycle the TT course, before scaling Snaefell.
They’ll be collecting for Help for Heroes, the National Autistic Society, the Cystic Fibrosis Trust and MacMillan Cancer Relief.
