The Home Affairs Minister is to be questioned over the police's use of PAVA spray.
The issue is on the agenda in the Legislative Council next week.
MLC Eddie Lowey wants to know what the policy is on the use of incapacitant spray and what guidance is issued to police officers.
Mr Lowey will also ask if the department is happy that the guildlines are being followed.
The use of spray has been critcised lately.
In one case it was claimed a man had it rubbed into his eyes and in a different incident it was alleged to have been used at point blank range.
