Klaffi makes it three in a row in Sidecar Race A

Sat, 04 Jun 2011

Klaus Klaffenock and Dan Sayle made it three in a row, adding to last year's double with a start to finish victory in the the lap Sidecar Race A.

The Honda pairing opened up an 11 second lead over TAS Suzuki’s John Holden and Andrew Winkle on the opening lap, with Tim Reeves/Gregory Cluze holding third.

Holden hit back on the early part of lap 2, cutting the lead to 8 seconds, but Klaffencock soon responded as both crews set their fastest ever laps around the TT course, Klaffenbock 114.798mph and Holden 114.861, each some way short of Nick Crowe’s lap record.

The leaders caught their main opponents on the road and treated fans to a great show, passing and re-passing one another throughout the second half of the race, to end together, handing the Austrian driver an 11.65 second win.

Reeves and Cluze held second from the outset on their Honda, but lost the position on the run from Ballaugh to Ramsey on the final lap, Conrad Harrison and Mike Aylott (Shelbourne), overhauling them and holding on over the mountain to complete the podium.
