Fifteen time TT winner John McGuinness blazed to the top of the leaderboards as the second qualifying session of TT 2011 took place in dry and sunny conditions.

The Morecambe rider took his TT Legends Honda Superbike out for two laps, fastest on the latter at 129.041mph average.

That was six and a half seconds faster than fan's favourite Guy Martin who lapped at 128.261mph on his Relentless TAS Suzuki, while Cameron Donald set 128.089 late in the session on his Wilson Craig Honda, shuffling Yorkshireman Gary Johnson into fourth spot, continuing his impressive start aboard his Honda at 127.717mph.

In the ‘showroom’ category Superstock class, Michael Dunlop tops the charts on his Paul Bird built Kawasaki, at 126.26, with familiar names Martin and McGuinness switching bikes to take second and third.

Dunlop was again tops on the 600cc Supersport category on his opening lap of the night, this time on a Yamaha, at 125.464mph, with Bruce Anstey on the Padgetts Honda second and William Dunlop third.

Fastest local of the night was Braddan’s Dan Kneen at 122.232mph on his Kawasaki.

The sidecars went out in the second part of the session, however the red flag came out just 15 minutes after the lead teams had set off. Bill Currie and Kevin Morgan were involved in a serious incident at Ballacrye just after Ballaugh.

The session was subsequently concluded and competitors brought back to the TT Grandstand by travelling marshals.
