Confusion over Bay Festival refunds

There's more confusion over refunds for the Isle of Man Bay Festival.

It's claimed there's been a problem with an early refund cheque sent out to a ticket holder.

An Energy FM listener contacted us to say they received a cheque in the post on Thursday and tried to cash it the following day.

A bank statement shows the money appeared to have arrived in their account but then later the transaction was marked CUI, which according to the bank means the cheque is unpaid at the moment.

The amount is for £46.85.

Organiser Jonathon Irving has made moves to assure people they will get refunds and that these will be paid on or before 29th July.

Energy FM News is still awaiting comment from Mr Irving to find out what the problem has been in this case and ask if this is just an isolated incident.

An email trail shows the person involved had contacted the Bay Festival and HMV to ask about a possible refund before the official announcement had been made that the festival was cancelled.

After proof of purchase was given, a cheque was posted out by the festival.

The Office of Fair Trading says it's not had reports of any other cheques being sent out, or problems with them clearing.

People are advised to keep following the refund procedure given out by the promoters.

The OFT has said it has no reason at the moment to doubt people will be refunded, but it has yet to hear back from the organiser.
