The future of Douglas Outer Harbour is being investigated by the Department of Infrastructure.
The Department has begun consulting with harbour users over what changes could be made.
Harbour bosses believe it's essential that the Island has an efficient and effective sea port, so will be looking to meet the needs of those who use the facility.
Harbour Division staff have already held a meeting with the Steam Packet Company.
The current harbour plan is from 2003, and the DoI considers it good practice to renew this plan every five to ten years.
