DoI to spend £2.7m on road maintenance

Fri, 20 May 2011

Less money will be spent on major road improvement schemes and more cash is going to fixing road surfaces.

The Department of Infrastructure plans to spend £2.7m on rebuilding and resurfacing carriageways.

The damage caused by cold weather has highlighted that many roads are fragile and that more is needed than a bit of patching up work.

A chunk of the money for the maintenance is coming from the road improvement budget.

Minister Phil Gawne says they'll be shifting their focus in future.[Play media file below]
