The Department of Health is refuting claims that a new breast care consultant will spend half of their time carrying out other types of surgery.
Breast cancer charities on the Island have raised concerns that a specialist breast surgeon is to be replaced with a general surgeon with an interest in breast care.
The Department says this will take the strain off the other general surgeons at Noble's, whilst continuing to provide treatment for breast cancer patients.
It was confirmed yesterday that the Royal College of Surgeons has approved the job description for the appointment.
