The Department of Health says it had no concerns about an eye surgeon who has been struck off the medical register after carrying out a botched operation.
A private patient at the Cosmetic Medical Centre in Douglas made a complaint against Adolf Poellmann after she had plastic surgery on her eye lids in 2008.
During the operation, which was carried out in an old dentist's chair, she suffered a haemorrhage in her eye socket and was also left with uneven scarring.
His overall work was assessed by the General Medical Council and serious deficiencies in his professional performance were found.
Poellmann was employed by the Department of Health to carry out cataract operations in 2007 and had been a locum before that.

He says there were no problems with Dr Poellmann's work at Ramsey Cottage Hospital.[Play audio file below]
Poellmann now lives in his home country, Germany.
