The Minister for Community Culture and Leisure is being asked to justify redundancies within his department.
Five maintenance workers from the heritage railways were laid off last week.
The department blames budget cuts.
Some politicians and union reps feel the situation has been mismanaged and that cost savings could have been achieved without jobs being lost.
Onchan MHK Peter Karran will raise the issue in Tynwald.
As well as asking David Cretney to justify the job losses, he'll be asking for a breakdown of the numbers of maintenance posts and management positions over the last 10 years.
