Controversial plans that some people thought would allow the government to pry on the way they raise their children have been scrapped.
There had been concern over the Children Bill which would have included the creation of a database containing information about youngsters on the Island.
The government's idea was that it would have flagged up concerns about young people before they could come to any harm.
However, the laws were seen as a step too far by a number of people.
This was reflected when a public consultation showed that three quarters of those that responded were dead against it and another 10% of people had reservations.
The Department of Education and Children won't be going ahead with the Bill.
It says it will be reviewing the structures it has in place at the moment to see if they do meet the needs of children and young people and make sure there is robust legislation.
