A long-serving MHK is announcing his retirement.
Member for Michael David Cannan won't be seeking re-election when the Island goes to the polls this September.
He's represented his constituency for nearly 29 years.
Mr Cannan is 74 years old and says it's time to allow a younger person with new thinking and fresh ideas to step in.
He says he's had many successes during his career.
However, Mr Cannan's biggest regrets are the failures to get sea defences and a doctor's surgery for Kirk Michael and the creation of a village at Jurby.
He hopes his successor will continue with these campaigns.
Mr Cannan says he'll continue to play an active role in the community and thanks his constituents..[play clip]
