The government's saying sorry to charities after mistakes were made when rate demands were sent out.
Some charities and religious groups are exempt from paying local authority rates but the Treasury recently demanded that they pay the full amounts.
The Treasury says this was done in error.
Staff are fixing the mistakes and any charities which have paid the money will be refunded.
Charity rate payers who've been billed by accident are being contacted.
Individual property owners and businesses aren't affected.
