800 sign petition against eviction

Douglas Council has been handed an 800 signature petition in support of a young mum who's being evicted from her home.

Stevie-Lea Evans lived at the house in Pulrose with her father who died last year.

Soon after his death, the 19 year old found out she was expecting a baby.

Her daughter was born prematurely six weeks ago and hasn't been allowed to leave hospital yet.

Miss Evans and her fiancee have been asked to leave the house because the tenancy had been in her dad's name.

The housing committee is to discuss the matter again and will let Miss Evans know their decision by this evening.
