MHK to ask for pier demolition costs

A politician will ask how much it would cost to demolish Queen's Pier in Ramsey.

 

Rushen MHK Juan Watterson will ask Infrastructure Minister Phil Gawne how much demolition would cost, and how much it has cost to maintain the pier over the last five years.

 

Mr Gawne is set to ask Tynwald for aproval to spend £1.8million on stabilising and protecting the pier.

 

Last year Mr Watterson called for the pier to be demolished, but his motion was unsuccessful.

 

However, Mr Gawne confirmed this would be the only option if Tynwald doesn't approve the works.

 

Tynwald sits from Tuesday next week
