Union officials and the Isle of Man Post Office are hopeful of avoiding strike action, after holding pay talks yesterday.
The Communication Workers Union and postal chiefs are continuing their discussions today, in a bid to avert industrial action scheduled for next Tuesday.
The CWU insists its workers don't want to strike, but say they were promised a pay rise.
The Post Office has maintained it can't give a pay increase because of the Government pay freeze.
