The Department of Infrastructure has now encountered another problem with the Peel Harbour footbridge as a dispute with the designer continues.
The Fenella Bridge is out of action at the moment, having been lifted on to the quayside to repair its failed mechanism.
Now the Department has a problem with the specialist paint used on the bridge.
It was supposed to last for ten years but has deteriorated after just five years.
It had been thought that there were no competent local contractors to carry out the work but now someone has been found.
The painting has now been delayed for a week to see if the contractor can meet the requirements of the work.
