Manx Gas is beginning survey work in Ramsey today, ahead of plans to convert around 7,000 properties to natural gas.
Island-based engineers will be visiting homes and businesses to check appliances.
At the moment, natural gas is only supplied to Douglas and the surrounding areas but this is now going to be rolled out to other parts of the Island.
The actual conversion work won't begin until this time next year.
Project manager Aidan Baglow says engineers will be contacting people to arrange to carry out the checks. [Play audio file below]
