Kerbside collection of recyclable waste is to continue in Braddan and Douglas for at least the next 12 months.
The future of the scheme was put in doubt after Onchan Commissioners announced they no longer wish to be involved.
Onchan members believe the scheme cost s too much money and doesn't do a great deal to help the planet.
The pilot scheme was originally set up by the government and responsibility then handed to the local authorities.
The Department of Infrastructure met with members from Douglas and Braddan this week who confirmed they will continue to fund and operate kerbside collections until next March.
DOI member Graham Cregeen says Onchan Commissioners have been asked to attend the next meeting.
