Manx Gas is to begin the first phase of work to convert around 7,000 Island properties to Natural Gas.
At the moment it's only supplied to homes and businesses in Douglas and the surrounding areas.
On 28th February, a team of Manx-based Gas Safe engineers will begin contacting residents to arrange to carry out a survey and safety check of appliances and boilers.
Conversion work won't actually begin until next year though.
Project Manager Aidan Baglow says it will give customers more freedom of choice when buying appliances.
He says it may also have financial benefits..[play clip]
