£23,000 is being spent on making Lord Street car park in Douglas less of an eyesore.
The former bus station site is being screened off with fencing and plants after local residents and visitors coming off the ferry complained that it's unsightly.
People arriving by sea have been known to mistakenly think the police cars parked on the site indicate a disturbance of some kind.
The money to patch up the area has come from the Government's Town and Village Centre Regeneration Fund.
It's seen as a short-term solution to enhance the prominent, yet scruffy, site.
The land is set to be developed into a four-star hotel with apartments and shop units.
However, several years after the government gave the contract to Askett Hawk Developments, no work has yet been carried out.
