The Steam Packet is to regain its freight monopoly between Douglas and the UK.
Shipping company Mezeron, which launched rival freight services in October last year, is to stop operating on its Liverpool route.
The firm was unable to get enough customers to make the freight sailings viable.
Mezeron's venture began well but poor weather conditions over the winter months did hinder some of its services.
It's vessels the Kurkse and the Kalana are advertised as being available for charter.
The company has released a statement.
It admits the project was always ambitious and says it didn't see the growth it expected and needed to continue the service profitably.
Mezerone will still carry cargo between Belfast and the Isle of Man.
Energy FM News has contacted the company for further comment, but has been told it has nothing further to say on the matter.
