Water rates increase could be less than expected
Thu, 03 Feb 2011
Water rates on the Island could increase by less than expected next year.
Chairman of the Water and Sewerage Authority - Tim Crookall - will ask Tynwald to approve an increase of 4%, or the rate of inflation, for the water rates for the next 2 years.
In 1999, Tynwald agreed that water charges would increase by 6% for the coming financial year, and a further 5% for the following year.
A motion to change the increase will go before this month's sitting of Tynwald
