Weather conditions and trying to minimise the need for road closures have been blamed for the defects in the newly laid road surface at Richmond Hill.
Infrastructure Minister Phil Gawne says his Department's workers tried to lay the tarmac over one weekend in wet conditions.
A wagon carrying the materials slipped due to the weather and the weight it was carrying, which led to a ripple in the road surface near Richmond House, and a ridge in the centre of the overtaking lane.
The 15mm ridge was said the be dangerous to motorcyclists.
Remedial works costing an additional £30,000 were carried out at the weekend.
Mr Gawne says more quality controls will be in place in the future [play clip]
