Foreign language lessons are going to be cut for younger pupils in the Island's primary schools.
The Department of Education and Children says French lessons will be phased out for children in years three and four.
Finance has been listed as one of the reasons for the changes.
Five staff will no longer be required because of the cuts, but the Department says it will try to redeploy them elsewhere.
It follows the news earlier this week that the Island's teaching staff has been cut by around 4%.
