The Department of Home Affairs has revealed it could have to cut around 12 jobs in order to balance its budget.
A statement by the Department says it is working hard to avoid redundancies, but that they can't be ruled out.
The posts under threat are in the Chief Executive's Office and Emergency Planning.
All Government Departments are having to look at ways to make savings, due to the Island's reduced income from the VAT sharing agreement with the UK.
No final decision will be made until after the Island's budget in February.
