Unemployment figures up

The Island's unemployment rate has gone up

An extra 60 people were registered unemployed during December than in the previous month, yet over the year the figure was down by a total of 83.

Figures released by the Treasury show the total unemployment remained at 1.9% with men making up over 2/3 of those signing on.

However at the end of last month there were 142 positions still vacant at the Island's job centre.
