There has been a mixed response to the rescinding of the area of special scientific interest in Ramsey estuary.
The Liberal Vannin Party has welcomed the news that the designation of the ASSI has been removed from the area.
However the Party questions why such an order was brought in in the first place.
Isle of Man Friends of the Earth believes the site should be an area of special scientific interest, and believes the decision to rescind the designation was forced by local interests.
The group is calling for a review into the way ASSIs are designated.
The Department of Environment Food and Agriculture made the announcement earlier this week.
