Fire crews called out to three crashes

Tue, 07 Dec 2010

The Island's fire crews had a busy night and morning, as freezing temperatures overnight made the Island's roads treacherous.

Douglas officers were called to Kewaigue, where a vehicle had eneded up on its roof shortly before midnight. It took around 45 minutes to free the uninjured driver, and clear the scene.

This morning, crews from Kirk Michael and Douglas dealt with a crash at the 11th milestone involving two vehicles.

Officers had to cut a person from one of the vehicles, before they were taken to hospital by ambulance.

Whilst dealing with this incident, Ramsey officers were called to a collision in Bride where a vehicle had ended up on its roof. All the occupants had been able to get out of the vehicle before the crews arrived.

Fire safety officers are reinforcing the message from the Emergency Services Joint Control Room that extra caution is needed when driving in wintry conditions, and recommend tuning into the radio for updates on the conditions.
