Inspector calls for common sense from motorists

Wed, 10 Nov 2010

The Head of the Roads Policing Unit is urging drivers to use more common sense when driving in icy conditions.

Inspector Mark Britton asks that motorists take notice of the weather to make sure they don't become a statistic.

The Emergency Services had a busy morning, with some motorists struggling with patches of black ice around the Island.

Inspector Britton believes the number of crashes and road closures would fall if people drove slower and more cautiously during winter.

Department of Infrastructure gritters have been out this morning attempting to improve conditions

The Roads Policing Unit has vowed to work with the Department, to ensure gritting is at an appropriate level.
