On the day the Chilean miners are being rescued, we've been hearing how such accidents were commonplace in the mines in Laxey.
Around 500 men worked in the Great Laxey Mine, which produced zinc.
33 miners in Chile have been trapped underground since August, with four having been brought back to the surface overnight.
