The first female gymnast ever to qualify for the Isle of Man at a Commonwealth Games is out after tearing a ligament in training last night.
19 year old Olivia Curran has her full leg in plaster and will need surgery on her alterior cruciate ligament when she returns to the Island.
She was practising on the bars when her hand slipped and she landed on her knees.
In a statement, Olivia says she is upset, angry and frustrated.
She deferred going to University in order to qualify for the Commonwealth Games, training 30 hours a week.
She is the second member of the gymnastics team to be struck with injury, after Joe Smith snapped his achilles in training on Tuesday.
