Manx Grand Prix chiefs have confirmed a rider was killed in this morning's Junior race.
Twenty eight year old James Adam was involved in a collision at Alpine Corner near Ballaugh Bridge shortly before 11am.
The Manx motorcycle club have confirmed that he was a serving Royal Marine who was racing in his second MGP and from Prestwick in Scotland.
An air ambulance was called to the scene but Mr Adam was declared dead at the scene.
Another rider is also thought to have been seriously injured in the incident.
Its also been confirmed that in a seperate accident this morning at Greeba Castle rider number 40 Tim Venables is in a critical condition at Nobles hospital.
