Building work on a new care home in the north of the Island is beginning today.
Social Care Minister Martyn Quayle started the work for the new Elderly Mentally Infirm residential facility.
The north has been without such a facility since it was decided Gardner House at Ramsey and District Cottage Hospital was no longer adequate.
The Department says the new unit will primarily be used by those suffering with dementia.
It's expected construction will take around six months, and the building will be fully operational by the end of next year.
