A South Douglas MHK has been explaining his decision to leave the Liberal Vannin Party to his constituents.
Bill Malarkey said he was unable to carry out his pre-election promises whilst he remained in the party.
He says the party rules were changed after he joined, meaning he was unable to take a Government job and had to vote against every Council of Ministers policy.
He writes about the decision in a newsletter sent to residents of Douglas South.
Mr Malarkey left Liberal Vannin in June 2008, having been elected to the House of Keys in the 2006 General Election.
