Manx people in America and Canada are being urged to defend the Island's reputation in North America.
Chief Minister Tony Brown spoke at the 50th convention of the North America Manx Association in Colorado, saying that the Island cannot stand alone in the world.
Mr Brown is urging those from the Isle of Man to speak up when politicians criticise the juristiction, and improve their knowledge of the Island.
The Isle of Man has been criticised in the past by Americans, who often refer to the Island as a "tax haven".
