Douglas Council could bring in a new bye-law to ban smoking in children's playgrounds.
The local authority's Leisure Services Committee has already indicated it would like to see smoking banned in the council's playgrounds, and has referred it to the Policy and Resources Committee.
If brought in it would mean anyone who continues to smoke in the areas could be fined.
Until the bye-law is brought in, polite notices asking people not to smoke are to be put up.
The minutes of the Policy and Resources Committee will be discussed at this week's meeting of Douglas Council.
