Police are warning that scammers have been targetting people on the Isle of Man.
The Financial Crime Unit says an advert for Mystery Shoppers which appeared in the local papers recently bears all the hallmarks of a scam.
Shoppers will have been asked to evaluate a Western Union premises and a restaurant.
Officers say those behind the scam ask for enough details to be able to steal a person's identity.
Victims will be sent a fraudulant cheque as payment, then asked to send the cash via MoneyGram, leaving them out of pocket when their bank realises the cheque is a fake.
Anyone who believes they are a victim of this scam is asked to contact the Isle of Man Constabulary's Financial Crime Unit.
