Gas improvements would cost £23.5m

Fri, 02 Jul 2010

The Chief Minister is to ask Tynwald to approve the spending of £23.5million on extending the Island's natural gas network.

Tony Brown will ask members to agree to the spend at this month's sitting of the Manx Parliament.

The works are necessary as the LPG network currently serving the north, south and west will not be viable in three to five years time.

Mr Brown told the House of Keys this week that the Government would own the gas pipeline if the project went ahead, and could charge Manx Gas to continue to supply fuel to these areas.
