Onchan man in court for possessing former legal high

A man has admitted being in possession of a drug which had only been made illegal weeks before he was arrested.

35 year old Craig Varey was arrested on May 5th in possession of seven bags of mephedrone, also known as plant food.

The former so-called legal high has only been a banned substance since the start of April.

Varey told police he had bought ten bags at £25 each and had used three.

Deputy High Bailiff Alistair Montgomerie bailed Varey to July 23rd.
