Police in Ramsey had to cordon off part of a street this week after a World War 2 artillery shell was found by a member of the public.
The 2lb high explosive shell was found between Walpole Drive and Queens Drive West on Thursday afternoon, explosives experts attended the scene It was later found on examination to be empty of explosive and was safely removed from the area.
Officers say the round would have been a potential danger to the public if it had still contained explosives.
They also ask that members of the public who wish to dispose of ammunition do so in a responsible manner through the appropriate channels
