'Spotlight' being shone on planning after concerns about delays

Enforcing planning rules on the Isle of Man can take a "considerable" amount of time but work is being done to speed up the process.
 
That's the admission from the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture - it says it's now in discussions with local authorities, including Douglas Council, to see if officers can take on some of the 'backlog'.
 
Concerns were raised in the House of Keys about the length of time some cases are taking to be progressed - the department only has one full time planning enforcement officer.
