Planning sought for health staff accommodation

Sat, 13 Feb 2016

Planning permission is being sought to build a £2.4 million accommodation block for health service staff.

The "modern and fit-for-purpose" building would be made up of six town-houses containing 48 en-suite rooms with communal living space.

It would replace the Nurses Home on Westmoreland Road in Douglas which opened in 1951.

The temporary rental accommodation would house staff who are relocating to the Island, junior doctors who are training, locum staff and student nurses.

The Department of Health and Social Care will ask Tynwald to approve the plans in June - if successful work will start in 2017.
