JCK trial set for June after death of worker

JCK Limited will stand trial in June next year after denying causing the death of a construction worker.

55-year-old Gareth Sowden died from crush injuries at a sewerage treatment works in Kirk Michael in 2013.

The plant hire and demolition firm has previously pleaded not guilty to failing to discharge duty on or about May 1st on the site.

A pre-trial review was held at Douglas Courthouse yesterday where it was confirmed the trial will start on June 13th - Deemster Mongtomerie apologised to Mr Sowden's widow for the delay. 

The trial is expected to last for 10 days, with 17 witnesses giving evidence - Deemster Birkett will conduct proceedings.
