Police take a stand against domestic violence

Male police officers on the Island are pledging never to commit domestic violence, never to condone it and never to remain silent about it.

Today is White Ribbon Day - a national campaign which encourages men to take a stand about violence against women. 

Since April police have recorded at least 250 reports of domestic violence - a 40 per cent increase on last year; Chief inspector Steve Maddocks says it has numerous forms.

Domestic violence can, and has, proved fatal on the Island - CI Maddocks says police need to intervene as early as possible:
