The MLC at the centre of a spat over lawnmowers has defended his comments saying he wasn't targeting the Department of Infrastructure.

Juan Turner took to Facebook earlier this week claiming that private contractors who cut the grass on government land were being forced to undertake off-Island training.

The Department of Infrastructure responded calling his comments "wholly inaccurate" - however Mr Turner says Minister Phil Gawne has now "jumped in" without checking his facts.

He says he didn't single out that department, or its contracts, but says he stands by the claims he made.

He added that those who informed him of the issue were told they wouldn't get any work unless they completed a course and were given details of an off-Island company.
