Two riders killed following Mountain Road collision

Sun, 30 Aug 2015

Two motorcycle riders were killed following a collision on the Mountain Road earlier today.

At about 11.10am at the Black Hut a German registered Ducati 848 and a UK registered Yamaha bike collided, as a result both riders were pronounced dead at the scene.

A third rider was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The police described it as a difficult scene to investigate as both bikes caught fire following the crash, causing considerable damage to the road surface.

A number of witnesses have been sought by the police but they are appealing to anyone else with relevant information to come forward to aid their inquiries.

The Mountain Road has been closed all day, with the stretch from Ramsey to Tholt Y Will expected to be closed until at least midnight.
