Teen left terrified after man exposes his snake

Wed, 01 Jul 2015

A pensioner from Douglas has been convicted of provoking behaviour after pulling his snake out in front of a teenage girl.

65-year-old Andrew Fielding approached the teenager as she was walking through the Villa Marina Gardens at around 12.45am on June 21st.

He asked to walk with the 18-year-old telling her "I like the sound of your shoes" before adding "If I show you something do you promise not to scream".

Fielding then reached into his jacket sleeve and pulled out a live snake - the "terrified" girl ran from him and called the police.

At Douglas Courthouse yesterday he was told the incident bore a "striking resemblance" to a previous offence in which the snake was also involved - Fielding was fined £400 on June 8th.

Social enquiry reports have been requested before sentencing on August 4th.
